David Guilfoose

David (he/him/his) is a Licensed Professional Counselor who specializes in working with adolescent boys (ages 15-18) and adult males. He has more than 20 years’ of experience working with individuals across the lifespan in a diversity of settings.

David is thoughtful, compassionate, and values-oriented in his work.  His approach is trauma-informed with an emphasis on building awareness of the barriers that get in the way of meaningful relationships and content life.  His primary methods of influencing change are by utilizing Internal Family Systems (IFS), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Holistic Therapy to deepen our understanding of ourselves on all levels.  David is also strongly influenced by philosophical inquiry into reason, truth, and meaning.

Education and Training

David received his undergraduate degree in Psychology from the State University of New York and Master’s degrees in Psychology from Seattle University and Counseling Education from the University of Alaska.  David has worked in a variety of settings including mental health hospitals, schools, clinics, in-home services and on the streets with homeless individuals.  He has advanced training in Internal Family Systems (IFS), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Mindfulness and Somatic approaches to therapy.
