Ruth Waters has more than 15 years of experience as a counselor and specializes in the treatment of children, adolescents and adults. She works with depression and mood disorders, anxiety disorders, OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder), ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) and behavior issues, trauma, grief and couples and families with conflict in relationships and communication issues. She enjoys working in collaboration with clients to problem-solve with a positive, solution focused approach.
She uses a combination of techniques including: solution focused Cognitive-Behavioral therapy, Exposure and Response Prevention, EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), relationship communication techniques, art therapy and play therapy. She has a special interest in creativity and play as a medium of expression. She believes that the capacity for transformation exists in every situation, and that the power of choice of response is in each person.
Education and Training
Ruth received her education at the University of Wisconsin – Madison in Clinical Social Work (B.S. and M.S.W.)
EMDR Level I and Level II – Certified by EMDRIA
Graduate of Behavioral Therapy Training Institute for OCD Treatment (IOCDF)
