(Michelle) Shelly is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker working with adolescents and adults in individual, couples and family therapy. Her therapeutic emphasis includes elements of CBT, Mindfulness Practices, Guided Visualizations/Meditation, Narrative Therapy, Solution Focused therapy, Internal Family Systems Therapy and Positive Psychology depending on the specific needs of each client. Her approach with clients is collaborative and encouraging. She looks for a client’s many strengths as she addresses their presenting problem. Shelly believes the therapeutic alliance is crucial in establishing a compassionate, trusting environment in which the client can generate confidence, emotional balance and increased states of wellbeing. Shelly has also spent three years at Inner Focus Healing, a mind/body school, and incorporates many of the practices learned there into her therapy approach.

Education and Training

Shelly obtained a Master’s degree in Social Work from George Williams College in Williams Bay, WI. She has completed a 3-year program in mind/body therapies at Inner Focus Healing School in Madison, WI. Shelly has also participated in several trainings with Flint Sparks, Ph.D. Psychologist and Zen Teacher at the Holy Wisdom Monastery in Middleton, WI. She is also a member at Open Door Zen Buddhist community.
