Laura specializes in the treatment of children and adolescents experiencing a range of mental health issues including: behavior problems, grief and loss, depression, trauma and adoption issues. She treats anxiety including obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), panic attacks and separation anxiety. Additionally, Laura treats adults for depression, anxiety, relationship difficulties, trauma, and other mental health issues. Laura uses Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), cognitive behavioral techniques, rational-emotive, communication education, art therapy, and other techniques depending on the needs of the client.
Laura worked in adoption for 10 years, where her interest in attachment and bonding led her to open a clinic for the treatment of attachment issues. Laura also worked as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in an inpatient psychiatric unit for children and adolescents before joining Uplands Counseling Associates in 2005.
Laura has led trainings for Milwaukee County social workers in child development and foster care and has been privileged to speak to many community groups about those and other treatment issues.
Education and Training
Laura received her education at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in sociology (B.S.), education (B.S.) and Social Work (M.S.W.). She has completed post-graduate training for the treatment of attachment issues.
